1) explain the causes and effects of the strengthening and weakening of the Spanish Empire
2) explain the cause and effect of Dutch prosperity at the beginning of the 17th century
American Studies - C / D Blocks
Read "Declaration of Independence" on pages 56-58 (green book). (H) and (C1) - paraphrase the Preamble and Declaration of Rights. (H) only - explain what makes the "List of Grievances" effective in portraying ALL colonists as victims of the British Empire.
Read pp. 68-74 (green book). Prepare for a 3-question quiz on the successes and failures of the US government during the Confederation period & the way that the Constitution was constructed.
