For Tuesday (9/8): Read "Geography" and provide a written response to the prompt - "Why is it so important to understand European geography in order to understand European history?" (no more than 1.5 typed pages)
For Wednesday/Thursday (9/9; 9/10): Read "The New Monarchy Thesis" packet. Prepare for a quiz on the reading with the following focus questions in mind:
- What is the progression of government structures in Europe since the fall of the Roman Empire? What role does the Catholic Church play in that progression?
- Why is there such conflict between European power structures by the 14th - 16th centuries? What are the results of the conflict?
- How does the new social structure in Europe by the 16th century influence governmental structure and organization?
These are simply major focus questions - read the packet and take notes with these as the overarching ideas - you are accountable for the major ideas of the whole packet.
