World History II(H) - A / B Blocks

For Wednesday - Read and familiarize yourself with the ideas in section 21.3
For Thursday - Louis XIV essay due

American Studies - C / D Blocks

For Thursday:  read 168-173 and explain how the lines continued to harden between the states to the point where war seemed to be the only option for settling differences.

Read the packet of selections about John Brown.  Explain what they say about the character of John Brown, his effect on the national psyche and his historical influence.  Explain whether you see John Brown as someone who contributed more to the unification or division of the country as a whole (this is intentionally open-ended) and what you see as his role in American history.

English assignment (for Wednesday) - Read Chapters 5-7 and prepare for a quiz on the reading.

Music will be a double period for Tuesday.  Make sure you do the reading on page NA 1.

US History - F Block

For Tuesday:  Open note quiz on the information in the "The Making of America" chart.

Also, finish questions 3 and 4 on the back of the "Images of Slavery" worksheet, picking out particularly vivid descriptions of the slave experience from the reading "Narratives of Escaped Slaves".

Extra Credit opportunity - Create a visual based on the descriptions in your answers to questions 3 and 4.  This can either be hand drawn, computer generated or you could make a collage.  The visual should reflect what slavery was like, based on your understanding of the "Narratives of Escaped Slaves" reading.
