Over the break, we would like you to read pages 913 - 972. This will be addressing the domestic changes and new foreign policy decisions that are developing in the late 1940s and the 1950s. I like to think of the 1950s as America's "long decade", spanning the years 1948 - 1963, because the ideas, feelings and actions of that period are bookended with the hopes that come with the Berlin Airlift and the Marshall Plan and the dashed hopes that accompany the assassination of President Kennedy.
You should take your own notes - the only assignment for you is to fill out the "C" Change chart. This will help you compartmentalize the number of changes that were occurring in the country during this period. You will turn the chart in on Monday in class - we will discuss the issues, see what you have come up with and then try to draw some bigger conclusions.
