World History II (C1) - C Block

Due Thursday:   Read Bismarck and Treitschke on the hand-out and answer the following questions:

What does Bismarck feel is special about the German people?  What kind of government do they respond to best and why?

What does Treitschke say is the power of the state?  Who are the heroes of the state?  How might these views affect German nationalism?

World History II (H) - D / F Blocks

By Wednesday (1/4) - Read the packet on 1848 and focus on how the author shows how the revolutions succeeded and failed and how historians have interpreted the significance of these revolutionary events between 1848 - 1851.  We will be discussing  1848 in greater depth on Thursday (D) and Tuesday (F).  To keep up with the ideas, it would be helpful to read pages ix - xi and glance over the timeline.  You can then read about the interpretations after you have had the in-class discussion about the events.

Also, NHD projects are due the week after we return.
